Creating my layout

I created my layout using Canva. Canva is a graphic design website which allows users to create their own unique designs. I decided to use Canva to create my layout because it is more easier and faster to create it there rather than Adobe InDesign. Users have the ability to use the website's templates (which in my opinion, all of them are totally unique and are aesthetically pleasing) and be able to customize the templates themselves. Canva has many fonts to pick from, for example Times New Roman, Playfair Display, Quicksand etc. The three fonts that will be featured in my my magazine are Playfair Display, Time New Roman and Univers, which are all available on the site.

From the screenshot you see above, this is what my main cover will look like. It will have my cover image covering up the majority of the cover, with the title and masthead of my magazine "Disculture" and underneath it says "Your monthly news magazine!" as my selling line in top left hand corner. At the bottom right hand corner, it states the issue "Issue 0.12" and underneath it states "October Issue", indicating that this issue was released in October. The font I used for the masthead and selling line are both Times New Roman. I picked this font for the masthead and selling line as I think the font is easily readable, so the viewers won't have difficulty with understanding and reading what is said in my magazine.

From this screenshot above, this will be by magazine spread. As you can see in the columns, this is my main article, with is about the coverage of homeless people in the media and news. In the top left hand corner, you can see a red box with text which states "BREAKING NEWS!". I decided to use this as news magazines usually have them; I also thought is was appropriate since the genre of my magazine is news, hence the red box. The font of my main article will also be Times New Roman. I chose this font because it is easily understandable and legible, so no one will have trouble with reading what is said in my main article (like how I mentioned it for my masthead and selling line).
