For my magazine, I used only 3 fonts. Those fonts were "Times New Roman", "Univers" and "Playfair Display"
"Times New Roman" is a serif typeface font which has a rich history. The font was developed in 1931 by Stanley Morrison and Victor Lardent and was commissioned by the newspaper "The Times". It was originally designed to be used in newspapers, which I though was interesting. I decided to use this font in my magazine because it thought it was appropriate, since my magazine genre is news and the font was made for newspapers (like I have mentioned before). My main article and the masthead for my magazine were in this font. This is due to the fact that it is easily readable, so the viewers won't have trouble reading my main article. It was also easily accessible, as it is one of many fonts available on Canva, the place where I created my magazine.
Another font I used in my magazine was called "Univers". "Univers" is in a group of fonts called "neo-grotesque sans serif typefaces", which were released in 1957. It was designed by Adrian Frutiger and was published by Linotype. I chose to use this font mainly due to the fact that is was easily legible, so the audience will not have trouble understanding what they are reading, like I how I decided to use "Times New Roman". I used this font for my table of contents page as well as the names of some of the articles that will be in my magazine on the main cover.
The final font that was in my magazine is called "Playfair Display". This font is a serif typeface designed by Danish type designer Claus Eggers Sørensen in 2011. The design is influenced by typefaces from the mid to late eighteenth century, such as Baskerville. I decided to use this font in my magazine mainly because I think it looks aesthetically pleasing to see and it fits with the overall vibe of my magazine; calm and elegant. You can see this font as the issue date on the cover, the breaking news sign and the title for my main article.
