Genre, Theme and Target Audience

The genre of my magazine will be news. The reason why I decided to write a news magazine is because we receive news every day in our lives, and I think its important that we read it. I think so because the news impacts our lives, since we read it daily, and can involve anyone in the world. It can also impact our loved ones and the people around us.

The theme around my magazine is the way how the news reports how homeless live, compared to how non homeless people live. I decided to report on this topic because homeless people in the media are reported in a negative light, using negative stereotypes, whether they are assumed to be drug addicts or are always living on the streets. I think it was important to bring light to such a topic that in my opinion, isn't talked about enough in a positive light in the media (news).

The target audience for my magazine will be people who are interested in reading the news, as well as people who are interested in becoming a journalist in their future; people who want to report and cover the news when they are older. It is for people who want to cover such heavy, difficult and underrepresented topics like homelessness and want to bring this topic to mainstream media.
