The main issue I faced during the making of my magazine was representation. The main purpose of my main article was to try to present homeless people in a positive light, and to break the negative stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination that surround them. I have mentioned this in previous blog posts, but I'll say it here again. The reason why I chose to write about this particular group of people is because they are often misrepresented in the media and news, and this misrepresentation often leads to stereotypes, which are mostly wrong and negative, like they are all criminals and are drug addicts, for example. Like I have stated in my previous post, the main purpose of my magazine was to present marginalised groups (like the homeless) in a positive way, to make the public know that it is wrong for them to create false perceptions of people who are really struggling with their issues, like financial loss.
Another issues I faced over the course of my coursework was how to edit photos and how to work WIX. In the beginning of my coursework, I was new to pretty much all of this, how to edit photos and writing blog posts on this website.
With the help of Youtube tutorials, I figured out how to to work WIX. Specifically for my Creative Critical Reflection, I watched a video, where the woman talked about how to embed a google slide presentation into WIX. I managed to do that, however I couldn't enter the code that it needed in order for the slide to work when you click a button on the lower right side of the screen. So, I posted the link to the presentation, so that is would be easier for the viewers to access in case the slideshow didn't work. However, I fixed that problem when I entered preview mode, and it turned out that the slideshow did work, and I deleted the link to the presentation.
On the topic of editing photos, I was introduced to Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop. However, I struggled with these sites as I was very new to them and overall, I just found it to be time consuming and hard to work with. To create my magazine layout, I chose Canva, as it is much more easier and faster than using InDesign. I also edited my photos on Canva as well, as it is easier and faster to use than Photoshop.
