For my magazine layout, I envisioned it to be sort of minimalistic look yet still look professional. It did not use vibrant colours as I do not think those were appropriate for the overall mood or atmosphere of my magazine. The use of earth tone colours such as brown, grey and dark green helped me achieve the minimalistic look. The use of earth tone colours such as dark green, brown and grey helped me achieve this look.
My main cover depicts a homeless woman lying on a bench in a park in front of houses surrounded by nature. I decided to have a homeless be on the cover of my magazine as that is what my main article is about. My cover includes the masthead and title of my magazine "Disculture", as well as the tagline "Your monthly news magazine!". The cover also includes some of the titles that will be featured in my magazine; "Emma Gonzalez: Her Story" and "Gun Violence in the USA: A Never Ending Struggle". It also includes the title of my main article "Coverage of Homeless People in the Media". It also includes the issue date (0.12) and states that it is the October issue of the magazine
My table of content page includes pictures of the same homeless woman lying on a bench in a park in front of houses. The page includes three titles of articles that will be featured in my magazine "Coverage of Homeless people in the Media" (main article), "Representation of Africa in Western Media" and "Gun Violence in the USA: A Never Ending Story". I decided to have these topics be featured articles in my magazine as in my opinion, I think they are issues that are going on in today's world that I think should be spoken of more in mainstream media and in the news.
My main article page includes a photo of the same homeless woman. I made it my main image as it was appropriate for my main article, which is about homeless people. My main article is in columns (as most articles are in), and have single spacing between them. The font my main article is in is "Times New Roman", as I thought it is easily readable (like how I mentioned it in my blog post about fonts). On the top right hand corner, you can see a red box with text which states "BREAKING NEWS!". I decided to put this in as I commonly see this in news magazines, and thought it was appropriate to put in, as the genre of my magazine is news.
