Creating the Final Draft

To create the final draft of my coursework music video, I again decided to use Capcut. Since I used Capcut to edit my rough draft, I thought it would be more easier to just edit my final draft on this video editor instead of another video editor, for example Premiere Pro. I also found Capcut to be quite easier than I had expected it to be, so editing my final draft will not be as difficult to edit.

The first change I made to my final draft was that I made the aspect ratio 4.3. This aspect ratio is the one that is most commonly used for music videos, alongside another ratio 16.9. I initially wanted to use the 16.9 aspect ratio, as it allows my video to be seen on a more wider screen, showing the entire picture. However, when I tried to use this aspect ratio, my pictures would turn out to be either too big or too small. Using the 4.3 ratio, it allows for my video to create a sense of intimacy between the artist and the audience, as it allows for a more up close and personal view of the artist. It also proved beneficial as it enhanced the quality and resolution of my video, as the lyrics in pictures were more comprehensible and legible than before. In my rough draft, I used the 2.1 ratio. I found this ratio made my pictures either too small or too big, just like the 16.9 ratio did. It also made the lyrics illegible, so the 4.3 ratio worked the best for me.

The second change I made was the color tint to some of my pictures. I reason why I did this is because some of the pictures in in my video (for example the my heart never will scene) turned out to be a more greyish color. I thought this greyish color did not look aesthetically pleasing at all, and I figured that are beige tint would make it more eye-catching. It would also make sense for the rest of my coursework (my digipak and Instagram account), as they are also in predominantly beige tints, so it would help maintain the cohesiveness of my coursework, by having one single house color for all of my products. It would also help by brand identity, as having one house color would help my products be more recognizable.

The third and final change I made to my final draft was my use of transitions. In my rough draft, I did not use as many transitions as I had done in my final draft. For example in my final draft, I added in the kaleidoscope and page turning effects. I did this as I thought they made the change between scenes look more smoother and nicer. Specifically with the page turning transition, it looked like turning the page of a book (a narrative text), and since my video is a narrative- based video, it would seem quite fitting to add a page turning effect.
