The video you see above is the rough draft of my music video. I edited the video on Capcut. I decided to utilize this software editing app is because it is relatively easy to use, and you are able to edit photos on it, which is convenient for me as my video is composed of photos drawn by me to illustrate the song's narrative. The title card at the beginning of the video is to introduce the audience to my artist and the song. The end cards are there to state that my video was completely hand drawn by and that it is a A2 Media Studies coursework music video, as well as thank you to my audience for watching my video and hopefully appreciating it. The font for both the beginning and end title cards is Versailles. I picked this font as I thought it was very understandable and not very hard to read, so my audience won't have any trouble reading what is being said. Throughout the video, you can see the narrative of the song being illustrated with the lyrics of each corresponding image next to it, highlighted in black marker. The reason why I chose to include the lyrics of the song is so that the audience won't loose track of at what stage they are in throughout the course of the video. I also included it for those who are hard of hearing, as they are not able to actually hear the song itself, so I added in the lyrics for them to follow along. The reason why the video itself has a lack of color is because I think it helps emphasize the sad and sombre tone of the song; a soft acoustic ballad. The toxic and abusive relationship is depicted through various images, like for example the scene where the woman pushes the man ("Weird" Al) down an elevator shaft. This song is bringing to light the social issue of abusive and domestic relationship to the forefront; a topic that I feel like is not talked about enough in mainstream media.
The improvements I feel like I should include in my final draft are...
- Further highlight the people drawn in the video (to make them more prominent)
- Perhaps add a bit of color in my video (in order to make the drawing look more aesthetically pleasing)
